Thin lens - In optics, a thin lens is a lens with a thickness (distance along the optical axis between the two surfaces of the lens) that is negligible compared to the focal length of the lens. If the thickness of the lens is not neglected, it is called a thick lens.
Intraocular lens - An intraocular lens (or IOL) is an implanted lens in the eye, usually replacing the existing crystalline lens because it has been clouded over by a cataract. They usually consist of a plastic lens with plastic side struts called haptics to hold the lens in place within the capsular bag.
Luneberg lens - A Luneberg lens is a spherically symmetric, variable-index refracting structure which will form perfect geometrical images of two given concentric spheres onto each other. The Luneberg lens is a spherical lens (usually a ball lens) generally having a gradient of decreasing refractive index n radially out from its center.
Wide-angle lens - In photography and cinematography, a wide-angle lens is a lens whose focal length is shorter than the focal length of a normal lens. For a 35 mm camera with a 36Â mm by 24Â mm format, the normal lens is 50 mm.
